Comment on the following statement: |
Travel broadens the mind. |
|
What is your opinion? Do you agree with this statement? |
Some people believe that traveling broadens one’s mind, whereas others believe that it is a big waste of time and money. They consider that it is better to learn about the world by books.
I think that traveling is a great way to broaden one's mind. First of all, there is a saying, "It is better to see something one time than to hear about it one hundred times." Everything a person sees during their travels leaves deep emotional traces in his or her memory and remembers better. Second, going somewhere else, people see other places, nations and cultures. They have no choice but learn them and try to understand them better.
At the same time there are those who believe that some people do not experience the local culture at all. They stay in their hotels, go to the beach, eat in restaurants and that is it. It would be cheaper and faster to learn about those places at home, reading proper books.
Well, obviously, if a person does not want to experience the local culture, nobody can force it upon him or her. However, whether people want it or not, people do experience it. Tourists see the architecture, the locals, how they are dressed and how they interact with each other. It is not a lot, but it is not nothing either. All those details cannot be learned at home by books.
In conclusion, I would like to say that traveling is a perfect way to broaden one's mind and experience the world faster, easier and in a more pleasant way. It adds to people's education a spirit of adventure that I strongly believe is substantial for every educational process. or In conclusion, I would like to say that there are opposing views on this issue. At first sight travels might seem useless in terms of broadening one’s mind but in actual fact they add to education a spirit of adventure. Thus, I strongly believe that traveling is important for every educational process. |
