Comment on the following statement: |
A number of people believe that pocket money teaches teenagers to be responsible with money. Others say that teenagers are too young to deal with money and that their parents should just buy them what they need. |
|
What is your opinion? Do you agree with this statement? |
Some people think that having pocket money teaches teenagers to be more responsible with it, whereas others believe it is a bad idea to trust money to them.
I think that parents should give their teenage children pocket money; a certain amount every month and not a penny more. First of all, this would give their kids some freedom and independence. Secondly, it will teach them to be responsible with money and plan their budget.
At the same time, there are people who think that teenagers are too young to have their own money. They would just squander it and come back in a couple of days asking for more. They would not learn responsibility and would only become spoiled.
Actually, I cannot agree with the opinion mentioned above for a particular reason. I think that if their parents stay firm in their intentions to not give their children more than a certain amount every month, the children will eventually learn to be responsible. Sure, some of them may spend all their money in one day, but after that they will have to go through the rest of the month without money and learn their lesson.
In conclusion, I would like to say that there are opposing views on this issue. It might seem that pocket money can spoil young people, but in actual fact, this helps them mature and it is especially important for the young generation. Thus, I strongly believe that parents should always give their children a chance to learn to be serious and responsible regarding spending money. or In conclusion, I would like to say that there are opposing views on this issue.
