1. Population and capital.

India is the largest country in South Asia, with a population of more than 1.4 billion people. The capital of the country is New Delhi. The largest city in India by population is Mumbai.

2. Religion.

Most of India's population practices Hinduism. India is the birthplace of Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, and Sikhism. Islam, Christianity, and other religions are also widely practiced in the country.

3. New Delhi.

New Delhi is the capital of India and one of the country's main political and administrative centers. It is home to government institutions, Parliament, and the official residence of the President of India.

4. Taj Mahal.

The Taj Mahal is one of India's most famous landmarks. This white marble mausoleum is located in the city of Agra and was built in the 17th century by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

5. Ganges.

The Ganges is one of the largest and most famous rivers in India. It is extremely important to the country's culture and religion and is considered a sacred river in Hinduism. Hundreds of millions of people live in the Ganges basin.

6. Independence.

India gained independence from Great Britain in 1947. One of the main leaders of the independence movement was Mahatma Gandhi, who advocated nonviolent methods of resistance.

7. The Himalayas.

The Himalayas, the highest mountain range in the world, are located in northern India. They form a natural border between India and several neighboring countries. The Indian Himalayas contain numerous mountain peaks, valleys, and glaciers.

8. Currency.

The national currency of India is the Indian rupee.

9. Geographical location.

India is located in South Asia. It borders Pakistan to the west; China, Nepal, and Bhutan to the north; and Bangladesh and Myanmar to the east. India is bordered by the Indian Ocean to the south, the Arabian Sea to the west, and the Bay of Bengal to the east.
