The question of science financing has been discussed for a quite a long time. Some people say that science has priority for funding, whereas others do not agree. They consider medicine the first sphere to be financed.

In my opinion financing of science should be the main priority for any government. First of all, with advancing of science the duration of people’s life has increased. For example, people lived about 30 years in the middle ages, whereas now they live about 80. Secondly, science gives people some possibilities that they could hardly think of before. For instance, now people travel to space and learn a lot about the Earth and other planets. Development of science will one day give humans an opportunity to change our planet for a one that is more suitable for living since eventually our planet will come to an end. 

At the same time there are people who claim that medicine is more important. They claim that in pandemic times all efforts should be focused on development of medicine.

I do not agree with the statement mentioned above. Medicine itself plays the secondary role in fighting diseases. First, scientists make a vaccine or some special equipment then medicine just use their inventions.

In conclusion, I would like to say there are opposing views on this issue. At first sight medicine is the first thing to be financially supported, but in actual fact science is more important. Thus, I strongly believe that science is the first thing to be financed in the modern world.
