Comment on the following statement: |
Virtual Internet communication results in losing real-life social skills. |
|
What is your opinion? Do you agree with this statement? |
In my opinion, if one communicates mainly online, he or she will lose their abilities to interact in real-life. First of all, when people communicate face-to-face they get a lot of nonverbal information. For example, when talking with a real person, people unconsciously notice many things by gestures, which is a good skill that requires special development. Secondly, talking to a real person makes people be more polite. For example, many people allow themselves to be really rude when they communicate online. They offend others without being afraid of suffering any consequences of it right away.
At the same timethere are people who think that online communication is as real as talking face-to-face. It allows people to share the same emotions and exchange the same ideas.
I do not agree with the opinion mentioned above. Although, emotions and ideas might be the same, there are a lot of examples when a person writes very nicely on the Internet but in real-life he or she cannot say a word.
In conclusion, I would like to say there are opposing view points on this issue. At first sight communication online seems to be the same as offline but in actual fact it reduces people’s abilities to interact in real-life. Thus, I strongly believe that too much communication on the Internet endangers people’s abilities to communicate in real-life. |
In my opinion, communication online is as real as offline and communication on the Internet does not reduce abilities to interact in real-life. First of all, when people communicate on the Internet they share the same ideas and emotions as in real-life. For example, when talking with a person on Skype, people laugh, rejoice, and experience the same emotions. Secondly, after developing a good friendship online in the beginning, when people meet each other in real-life they continue communicating with the same pleasure.
At the same time, there are people who think that communication in real-life suffers from online interactions. They are sure that after talking too much on the Internet people will not be able to communicate face to face.
I do not agree with the opinion mentioned above. Although, some people might have some difficulties to communicate in real-life after talking too much online, it is more exception than the rule.
In conclusion, I would like to say there are opposing viewpoints on this issue. At first sight communication online seems to be weakening interactions in real-life but in actual fact it is as real as face to fact communication. Thus, I strongly believe that communication online doesn’t bring any trouble to real-life social skills. |
