Some people think that the use of mobile phones should be restricted, while others think it is not a good idea.

I think that there should definitely be some restrictions. First of all, pupils at schools should not be allowed to use their phones in class. Even answering a simple text can distract a pupil’s attention and it would take time to bring it back. Secondly, in places like hospitals and theaters it should be restricted as well. It is so annoying to hear someone’s phone ring when people are trying to enjoy a play or lying in bed in pain. People should be more considerate.

At the same time there are people who believe that mobile phones should be allowed to use everywhere. What if, they say, something happens to the people they care? Or else, what if they are witnessing a crime taking place, like a robbery? They may take pictures or make a video that would later help the police to catch the criminals.

Taking photos of a crime scene can indeed help the police, nevertheless, I think that such situations almost never happen. Pupils use their phones almost every day in class just for fun; people answer their phones in theaters a lot to talk about mundane things that can wait. Besides, restricted usage does not mean people cannot bring their phones with them. All it means is that people should keep their phones in silent mode and should not use them unless it is an emergency of some sort.

In conclusion, I would like to say that mobile phones have become an essential part of our lives. People should be respectful of one another and try not to use their phones in places where cells are not allowed.
