INDONESIA

1. Population and capital.

Indonesia is the largest country in Southeast Asia, with a population of about 286 million people. The largest city in the country is Jakarta. The new capital, Nusantara, is being built on the island of Borneo, but the relocation of the capital is still in progress.

2. Religion.

Most of Indonesia's population practices Islam. Indonesia has the largest Muslim population in the world. Christianity, Hinduism, Buddhism, and other religions are also practiced in the country.

3. Jakarta.

Jakarta is the largest city in Indonesia and the country's main economic center. It is located on the island of Java and is one of the largest metropolitan areas in Southeast Asia.

4. Bali.

Bali is Indonesia's most famous tourist island. It is known for its beaches, volcanoes, rice terraces, and Hindu temples. Unlike most of Indonesia, the majority of Bali's population practices Hinduism.

5. Borobudur.

Borobudur is the largest Buddhist temple complex in the world and one of Indonesia's most famous landmarks. It was built on the island of Java in the 8th–9th centuries and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

6. Independence.

Indonesia declared its independence from the Netherlands in 1945. After several years of struggle, the Netherlands officially recognized Indonesia's independence in 1949.

7. Volcanoes.

Indonesia is located in the Pacific Ring of Fire and is known for its large number of active volcanoes. Some of the most famous are Krakatoa, Merapi, and Tambora. The country has more than 120 active volcanoes.

8. Currency.

The national currency of Indonesia is the Indonesian rupiah.

9. Geographical location.

Indonesia is the world's largest archipelagic country. It is located between the Indian and Pacific Oceans and consists of more than 17,000 islands. Its largest islands and island territories include Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, and the western part of New Guinea.
