P.S. Central Asia and Middle Asia are close but not exactly the same concepts. Central Asia is a modern geographical region that includes 5 countries: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

Middle Asia is a traditional term widely used in the USSR. Under Middle Asia, they usually understood 4 countries: Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. Kazakhstan was considered separately and was not included in Middle Asia.

So: Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan belong to both Central Asia and Middle Asia. Kazakhstan belongs to Central Asia, but in the traditional understanding it does not belong to Middle Asia. Today, the more modern term «Central Asia» is used more often.
