Task 2

You are going to take part in a telephone survey. You have to answer the six questions. Give full answers to the questions. Remember that you have 40 seconds to answer each question.

Electronic assistant: Hello! It’s the electronic assistant of the Dolphin Sports Club. We kindly ask you to take part in our survey. We need to find out how people feel about doing sports in our region. Please answer six questions. The survey is anonymous – you don’t have to give your name. So, let’s get started.

Electronic assistant: Do you like to live in the country or in the city?
Student: Personally, I like living in the city. I’ve been living in the city for my whole life. So, I feel quite comfortable here.

Electronic assistant: What is typical weather in your hometown?

Student: Well, my hometown is Moscow. The weather has changed for the last 10 years here. Usually it’s quite agreeable, not really too cold but cold. Nevertheless, winters might last till the end of March. Summers might be also relatively cool, around +18C, most of the summer. Although, it depends on the year.

Electronic assistant: What place in your hometown do you like most of all?
Student: Personally, I like Chistie Prudi most of all. When I was young my parents often took me there for walks. I played by the ponds and my parents sat on the benches and talked. I’ve grown up since then but I still keep going there to walk around with my friends and talk.

Electronic assistant: What environmental problems do people have in your hometown?
Student: As far as I know, the biggest environmental problem in my hometown, Moscow, is air pollution. There are a lot of cars in our city and they produce a lot of fumes. Sometimes it is hard to breath when you are walking along a street with bad traffic. Also there are some problems with water and cutting out the trees but they are being successfully solved.

Electronic assistant: Would you stay in your hometown when you finish school?
Student: I think I will stay in my hometown when I finish school. I love my city and hope to study here after I finish school. Then, after graduation from a university I hope I will continue to work here.

Electronic assistant: What would you do for your hometown if you were very rich?

Student: I guess if I were rich, I would build better roads. I would make the people who build the roads be responsible for what they build. Nowadays, they build roads that fall apart after only a few months and then they rebuild them all over again. Good roads, less bad traffic. Less bad traffic, better the air.

You have to talk continuously.
