Sergey Mikhaylovich Brin is an American computer scientist and internet entrepreneur.

Sergei was born in Moscow on August 21, 1973 into a Jewish family of mathematicians who moved to the USA in 1979 when Sergey was 6 years old.

Sergei’s parents were graduates of the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University. His father, Mikhail has a Ph.D. in mathematics. His mother, Evgenia was a Research Fellow at the Institute of Oil and Gas of Moscow.

In 1977, after Sergey’s father returned from a mathematics conference in Warsaw, Poland, Mikhail announced that it was time for the family to emigrate. "We cannot stay here any longer", he told his wife and mother.

In 1993, Sergei entered Stanford University in California, where he received a Master's degree in computer science and began working on his Ph.D. During his studies Sergey started showing his interest in Internet technologies and search engines.

In 1995, at Stanford University, Sergey met another post-graduate mathematician, Larry Page. In 1998 they founded Google. In the beginning, they furiously argued about a lot of things, but then became friends and worked together to create a search engine for their campus.

On September 14, 1997, the google.com domain was registered. Then they got ideas to turn it into a business. Over time, the project left the university campus and managed to attract investments for further development.

In 2004, the names of the founders were listed by Forbes magazine in their list of billionaires worldwide.

In 2012, Sergey Brin at an interview with The Guardian referred to Apple Corporation and the social network Facebook as the primary enemies of the free Internet. Now, according to Brin, the principles of openness and access to information, which were set during the creation the Internet, are seriously at risk.

Google actively opposes anti-piracy laws that, according to their opponents, would allow the US authorities to censor the Internet.

Google is engaged in huge charitable investments. The company's founders said that 20 billion dollars would be spent for charity over the next 20 years.

Together with Larry Page, Sergey is engaged in the fight against aging.

Brin speaks Russian with his parents and considers the years spent in Russia to be important.

Sergey has two children.
