Introduction

The passage is about innovation, which is defined as an act of making an improvement by introducing something new.  

Examples

The professor gives two examples of innovations, Intentional and Accidental ones. First, she gives an example of Intentional Innovation using bifocal glasses. An aging Benjamin Franklin had trouble seeing things far and near with the same pair of glasses. He combined both lenses into one frame. Thus, he created a new type of glasses. Second, the example of an Accidental Innovation is when the ice-cream soda was created. In a restaurant bar some ice cream accidentally fell into a glass of soda water. The cook tasted it and said it was delicious. Thus, a new dessert was invented.

Conclusion

That’s how the professor explained the two types of innovations.
