Cameron Diaz was born on August 30, 1972 in San Diego, California. Her mother, Billie, was an import-export agent, and her father, Emilio Diaz, worked for the California Oil Company. Diaz has an older sister, Chimene. Her father's family is Cuban, and Diaz's ancestors (1) had originally moved from Spain to Cuba.

Both Cameron and her sister were far from being good girls. They listened to heavy metal music and spent all their time with local guys. If the situation required (2), the sisters could easily give a good punch (3) into a face to an offender, regardless (4) of gender and age. Moreover (5), Cameron went to the concerts of Ozzy Osbourne, Metallica and Van Halen with her Mom.

As a child, Cameron had a small zoo at home (cats, mice, birds, snakes, etc.). She dreamed of becoming a zoologist, and did not think about her career as an actress until her late teens (6).

At the age of 21, Diaz stared in the movie called "The Mask", playing a jazz singer. Having no previous acting experience (7), she started taking acting lessons right after she was chosen for the role. "The Mask" became one of the top ten highest-grossing (8) films of 1994 and turned Diaz into a sex symbol.

In May 2014, Cameron started dating Benji Madden, the guitarist and backup vocalist for the band Good Charlotte. She married the musician at her home in Beverly Hills, California, on January 5, 2015
