Comment on the following statement: |
| Every city and every town should have a zoo. |
|
|
What is your opinion? Do you agree with this statement? |

I believe that zoos have to be in all cities. First of all, they help rare species of animals to survive. For example, snow leopards that are listed in the Red List live comfortably in zoos. Secondly, zoos have an educational value for children. For instance, when young people go to a zoo they learn a lot of interesting information about animals.
At the same time there are people who believe that zoos should not be in cities. They say that animals are treated badly in zoos and have to live in cramped spaces. As a result, most animals look pitiful. What is more, the authorities of many cities cannot afford the cost of decent maintenance of zoos.
Nevertheless, I cannot agree with the opinion mentioned above. A lot of animals are born in zoos and they will not survive in their natural habitats. One should not ignore the fact that many zoos are self-sufficient and do not need funding from local authorities.
In conclusion, I would like to say there are opposing views on this issue. At first sight zoos seem like a cruel place for animals that should not be in every city, but in actual fact they bring joy and excitement to city dwellers. I still support the idea that every city should have a zoo. |

Comment on the following statement: |
| Some people think that Russian is easier to learn than English |

In my opinion, Russian is more difficult than English. First of all, Russian language has changing endings. For example, according to its pronouns the endings of adjectives change, which means a learner has to remember a lot of cases. In English they remain the same, she is clever, they are clever etc. Secondly, Russian has many more prefixes than English. For instance, almost for each verb one can add a few different prefixes that changes the meaning of the verb slightly or strongly. Moreover, there are not really strict and logical rules in using these prefixes and endings.
At the same time there are people who believe that English is more difficult to learn. They say that pronunciation in English is not easy at all as well as writing. People joke saying, “One write Manchester but read Liverpool”.
Nevertheless, I cannot agree with the opinion mentioned above. Learning language consists of many sections. If a few of them are easier, it does not mean that the whole language is easier.
In conclusion, I would like to say there are opposing views on this issue. At first sight English seems more difficult, but in actual fact Russian is more complicated language to master. Thus, I still support the idea that English is easier to learn than Russian. |
