About Manny Pacquiao (краткие биографические сведения)

Emmanuel (Manny) Dapidran Pacquiao is a professional boxer, actor, Filipino senator, singer and religious figure. For the Philippines, Manny is person "Number One". During the actual days he fought, Philippine streets were empty, crime rates fell down and even terrorists let hostages go.

Manny was born on December 17, 1978 in the town of Kibava in the province of Bukidnon. Manny was the fourth child in a family of 6 children.

Manny Pacquiao went into boxing against his mother’s desire, who dreamed that her son would become a priest. She scolded him up for being late for school and boxing on the streets for fun to the public. But soon Manny had to give up studies due to extreme poverty.

Manny Pacquiao was 13 when his father left his family, and Manny was sent to sell bread and water in the streets. He worked during the day and in the evening he trained in boxing. Pacquiao fought so selflessly for free that he started getting paid 100 pesos (about $ 2) for early fight.

At the age of 14, Manny secretly went to Manila, where he expected to enter professional boxing. However, instead of fighting, Pacquiao took a job as a metal carver at a trash dump. He went to a gym only at night where he trained and slept there since he didn't have enough money to rent a place to live. Years later Manny would buy that gym and open his school there.

Manny's boxing talent showed itself almost immediately. He won 54 out of 60 fights in Southeast Asia in amateur boxing, then Pacquiao turned professional. Soon after turning pro he got the idea to go to the USA.

In the States, nobody wanted to deal with an unknown Filipino and only Freddie Roach agreed to work with him. After boxing on jab pads only a few times, Freddie instantly realized that a great fighter was standing in front of him.

Fantastic hand speed, heavy punches, endurance and patience allowed Pacquiao to gradually defeat most of the stars of American and Mexican boxing. Pacquiao’s fights become the fights of the year. He also became one of the greatest "Pound for Pound" boxers of all time.

Manny is left-handed. He is the only world champion in 8 weight categories. During his professional career, Pacquiao changed weight categories 2 times, starting with the lightest weight (50 kg) and ending with the middle weight (69 kg) categories.

Manny Pacquiao was elected to the Philippine Senate and oversees the development of sports in the country.

Manny's Mother still regrets that her son did not become a priest.

In December 2005, Pacquiao played his first major film role in Violett Film's "Lisensyadong Kamao" (License Fist). In 2008, Pacquiao co-starred in the film "The Son of the Commander". In 2009, Manny starred in the comedy "Wapakman".

During his career, Manny earned many millions of dollars. The last fight with American Floyd Mayweather brought him $ 150 million dollars. Thus, the poor man from the province in the Philippines became the icon of the nation.

In May 10, 2000, Manny married Jinky Pacquiao.
