I was a gloomy November afternoon. And, though it was Saturday, I felt down. The phone rang just in time to prevent me from falling deeper into depression.

“Hi,” Emily’s voice sounded bright. “I’ve got two tickets to the film for today. My friend Tony cannot/can't go as she's babysitting for your aunt tonight. Would you like to keep me company?”

NOT/CAN

I did not mind/didn't mind as I had no plans for the rest of the day anyway.

“Ok.” I said “If you tell me the time and the place, I shall be / will be / ‘ll be there.”

Emily said she would come 15 minutes before the film so that we could have some ice cream and chat.

When I arrived at the cinema I saw Emily at once. It was difficult not to notice her. She was wearing a bright blue coat, a red scarf and lilac boots.

“Come on!” she sounded to me. “I have bought / ‘ve bought ice cream for us. It's melting.”

She gave me one ice cream and we sat on the bench not fog from the entrance.

Emily was chatting happily about the film and the celebrities starring in it. I was amazed to find out how much she knew about them.

“Would you like to be a film star?” Emily suddenly asked. “If you had any talent, of course,” she added in such a voice that it was clear she considered me absolutely hopeless.
